I am the Co-Founder and Chair of the Board of Directors of Hear Your Song, a national nonprofit that empowers children and teens living with serious illnesses and complex health needs to make their voices heard through songwriting.

 

In kid-driven, trauma-informed, collaborative sessions, Hear Your Song supports kids with serious health diagnoses through the entire process of writing and producing their own original music.  Hear Your Song provides power and choice—and a microphone—to young people whose health conditions so often deprive them of agency in their day-to-day lives.  Kids living with serious illnesses deserve the chance to show the world that they are more than their diagnoses.  Hear Your Song gives them the support to share who they are, not because they need to be healed, but because they need to be heard.

Founded in 2020, Hear Your Song has supported more than 700 kids through partnerships with hospitals, advocacy organizations, schools, and camp programs, including Montefiore Medical Center, Sickle Cell Society UK, The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, MitoAction, The Immune Deficiency Foundation, and more.
